When the internet first came around and sites like AOL were popular, we were all anonymous behind our usernames.  Then a little website called Facebook changed all that – putting your full identity and physical appearance front and center.  Well a social network called Anomo is bringing anonymity back by connecting you with new people based on common interests, not physical appearance.

When you download the app, you setup your profile and list your interests, gender, and age.  Aside from those items, you don’t have to list more than you’re comfortable with.  Then the app finds you 4 people that have similar interests with you in the same age range as you…to play an icebreaker, which is a multiple choice “get to know” game. If you have some common answers, you can chat and see if there are more common interests.  Eventually, you can reveal more about yourself – say your job or your photo.  You can also make public posts, comment on photos, and meet people using their GPS locator.
