Whilst being a very successful company, Twitter has suffered from a lack of users and market share when compared to its competition, and despite a very high valuation when it went public some would say that it hasn’t quite lived up to its potential.

Twitter Periscope is the new venture that

is set to change that opinion and to give

Twitter a much needed boost.

Twitter purchased Periscope last week for

a purported $100M in a bid to take

control of an emerging market currently

dominated by its rival, Meerkat.

Twitter periscope is an app that comes hand in hand with Twitter and allows its users to publish video clips in real time – users must have a Twitter account in order to use Periscope and with it they can video anything from their mobile phone, upload it and post it to twitter.

Since its launch there have been lots of fun videos posted but it has also been used to stream live videos of concepts, sports events and other interesting moments.

Whilst the app doesn’t necessarily

reinforce Twitter directly, live video is a very new and interesting space and the fact that Twitter is now involved in it is making investors very excited.

We are likely to see this concept

evolve considerably in the coming

months and it will see all sorts of

events and cutting edge news from

around the world being available to

the masses via live video stream

in real time.
